Zoom chats turned into real-life smiles – celebrating freedom, growth, and the journey. It was such a joy to meet Jessica in person as she traveled across the country.

From Overwhelmed to Financially Free
When Jessica began her journey, she was where many people find themselves: working hard, juggling multiple jobs, trying to do the right things with her money—but still feeling stuck.
“I had about $25,000–$30,000 in debt—between student loans, a car loan, and medical bills,” she recalls. “It felt daunting. I was scared of how long it was going to take and worried something would set me back.”
Jessica was already budgeting, paying debt off, and living frugally. She was working a full-time job, picking up overtime, and pet-sitting nights and weekends. All while living in the high-cost-of-living city of Scottsdale, AZ.
“Looking at my finances…it was daunting. It was a lot and I was worried. I’d think ‘Oh my gosh! How am I going to manage all this debt, save, and fund everything I want to do?’ It forces you to prioritize what’s important.”
“I realized there were sacrifices I needed to make in order to pay off debt and get ahead financially. I worked two jobs. Both my full-time job, with overtime, roughly 50-55 hours a week, and also did pet sitting on nights and weekends, for about 2 years. It was a lot of time and a lot hard work. I was always scared another crisis would come up that would derail my debt-free journey. I didn’t want to take a break from doing the baby steps to fund an emergency. Having that fear made me more motivated to get my debt paid off and get an emergency fund saved.“
After learning a new way of thinking about money in Janet’s FPU class, Jessica decided to continue working with Janet one on one.
“I needed accountability and guidance. I was ok with budgeting and pretty good on spending or cutting back. I needed help just getting organized… and encouragement and accountability. I needed someone to bounce ideas off of and answer questions.”
🚀 A Plan, a Guide, and a Mindset Shift
Jessica took action. She used the debt snowball method to prioritize her debts. She committed to a tight budget, stayed consistent, and found motivation in her progress. In about 9 months, she paid off all of her debt.
“I paid off my car, then my student loans, then my medical bills. And now it’s gone.”
“You need to pay the debt off first and then figure everything else out, because that debt is going to hold you back. The faster you pay it off, the faster you can start all the other things that you want to do.“
Jessica didn’t stop there. She built a fully funded six-month emergency fund and is cash-flowing major expenses like going back to school. She even moved across the country —debt free.
“I’m a lot more at peace and I’m a lot more comfortable. I’m not as stressed out with all this debt to pay off. I know that I’m keeping my money and putting it toward my next goals. Keeping a cash-flow mindset and not resorting to debt was a big thing for me.”
🙌 What Made the Difference?
Jessica says one of the most powerful parts of coaching with Janet was the support she received:
“You were not judgmental at all. You had the heart of a teacher. You did not make people feel bad or ashamed… You were understanding, and I really appreciated that.”
With Janet as a guide, Jessica found the clarity and confidence she needed to move forward—and ultimately to win.
“I’m a lot more at peace. I’m a lot more comfortable. I’m not as stressed out with all this debt to pay off. I know that I’m keeping my money and putting it toward my next goals.”
